Transparent calculation

From component marks to a 1-7 estimate

Each paper, internal assessment, oral, project, or portfolio mark is divided by its maximum and multiplied by its subject weighting. The weighted contributions are combined before the May 2025 overall grade boundary is applied.

The result panel then adds six subject grades, calculates TOK and EE core points, and checks the main Diploma award conditions. Estimates remain unofficial because moderation, syllabus changes, and school decisions can affect final outcomes.

What this tool helps with

More than a simple IB points total

Weighted component scoring

Many IB subjects are not calculated by averaging raw percentages. This calculator separates papers, internal assessments, orals, portfolios, projects, and investigations, then applies the relevant component weighting before estimating the final 1-7 grade.

Diploma conditions in one place

The result panel checks the main Diploma award conditions, including total points, subject grades, HL and SL point minimums, TOK and EE core points, and the assumed completion of CAS. This helps students see why a 24-point total alone is not the full rule.

University planning from final grades

The experimental AI advisor uses the estimated 1-7 subject grades and total Diploma score as the starting point for application research. It suggests reach, target, and safer options with official university links so students can verify requirements independently.

AI admissions advisor Experimental feature. For reference only. Always rely on official university websites.

Common questions

Before relying on an estimate

Is this an official IB result?

No. It is an independent planning estimate based on the selected subject, component marks, weightings, and configured May 2025 boundaries. Official grades are issued only through the IB assessment process.

Why does the calculator ask for individual components?

Components can have different maximum marks and percentage weights. Entering them separately produces a more meaningful estimate than averaging raw paper percentages.

Does reaching 24 points guarantee the Diploma?

No. Candidates must also satisfy subject-grade distribution, HL and SL point minimums, TOK and EE conditions, CAS completion, and other applicable programme rules.

Can the AI advisor guarantee university admission?

No. It provides experimental planning suggestions from the current 1-7 grade profile. Students must verify course requirements, deadlines, fees, and subject prerequisites on official university websites.
